So I’m sure that you guys didn’t know this, and that I am the first person to point it out to you, but 5.0.4 dropped yesterday!
That is how /trade chat made me feel upon loading in last night.
Patch Notes
In my humble opinion Blizzard does a pretty decent job of letting us know what’s going to be in through the patch notes, which are available in about 50 different locations.
So it’s always fun to me to see people try to find things/do things that aren’t going to be there like:
- Pet Battle Trainers. They we’re very specific in stating that Pet Battles will not be available till September 25th when Mists of Pandaria drops.
- New Heroic Dungeons: Though you can run the new Scarlet Monastery dungeons on normal, and they’re pretty awesome.
- Monks. That was my favorite last night. “How do you start a monk?” /sigh REALLY Just have to remember. Don’t feed the trolls. Don’t feed the trolls. Don’t feed the trolls. Don’t feed the trolls.
QQ, You’re Getting My Keyboard Wet
So Addons are not run by Blizzard, they are run and created by third parties that really have nothing to do with Blizzard Entertainment or World of Warcraft, so in what instance do people think that on the day BRAND NEW content is going to drop they’re addons are going to work?
Yes some of them manage to get them working in they’re most basic form, but the majority of Addon developers are going to need a moment to update their code, and get you a shiny new version, something like Version 5.5845258874.
This, along with the community basically live testing new features, and us getting to “learn” the new stuff, is why pre-expansion patches are done. People have time to fiddle and figure out all the bug before new content is installed.
Enjoy the Spoils of War
I know that I’ve mentioned this before, but go make some GOLD! You may not NEED it as soon as the new expansion comes out, but it won’t hurt to have some. For those that don’t know, because I’ve discovered that a lot don’t, the Dailies cap of 25 quests has been removed. So go DO ALL THE DAILIES! It nets you a pretty profit.
FARM LOW LEVEL STUFF, especially herbs. People will actually need Scribes for a little while, not to mention they’re the one with shoulder enchants. It’s Make A Scribe Friend Day. Even if you don’t need a scribe you can sell the mats on the AH for bank right now, and I know that you all want that Yak.
Mostly, as always, have fun play safely, don’t heal without protection.

I was more bummed that I was getting 2-3 fps and didn’t get a chance to play any last night. I was really hoping to try out a dungeon or two. I feel sorry mainly for the heal addon authors like Vuhdo and Grid, I imagine they get a lot of people hollering at them to “fix it fix it fix it!” every patch. My hats off to those guys though, they do a fantastic job for very little.
Mainly.. I can’t wait to see how the changes effect Dragonsoul. I’m curious how much we will have to re-learn before raiders are successful in downing heroic content again.
