Trading Places: Leveling a New Main

So recently my 10 man underwent a bit of a change, we lost a healer…no literally we lost him, I have NO idea where he went to, so we replaced him with the only thing we had available, which was a druid. In my opinion it is not a good idea to double up on the same class for tanks or heals in 10 mans. So I decided that since I was an officer I should bite the bullet and level a new toon to heal in our group.

Refer A Friend Is Silly!

The man and I decided that since all the expansions were on CRAZY sell that week we would just do refer a friend so that the leveling would be faster…

Understatement of the year!

We leveled to 80 in 1 day played. Purely through Dungeon running we’d gain 2-3 levels per dungeon, at lower levels it was 3-4 levels per run.

So, OH YEAH, I decided to level as a Monk healer. So we hit 80 and of course he’s where all those happy benefits stop, but we’re still making good time with heirlooms and guild benefits.

PROFESSIONS!

That word in all caps looks spelt wrong.

I decided to for once have leatherworking and skinning on my leather wearing character, but I’ve run into the issue of leveling FAR too fast to actually level it at all.

It on more thing that I know I will have to go back and do, because I can not expect everyone else in my raid to have max professions if I don’t myself, this really sucks since I just spent an obscene amount of gold on Aunaka to level her engineering. Which brings me to the hardest part of this whole situation.

Losing A Friend

Leveling the monk has been a ton of fun, and I REALLY enjoy the way that they heal, but I feel like I’m cheating on Aunaka.

I mean I’ve done EVERYTHING on Aunaka, and I don’t want to say it, but I’m having more fun on Aunakai (that’s right) than on her, the healing is great I like the amount of skill it takes to keep buffs rolling, and use different abilities when I should.

Not to mention that I get to DPS while healing! Legit DPS while healing! Granted I’m not 90 and I’m not in a raiding situation so I’m not sure how it plays out there, but I’m hoping it doesn’t change too much.

I get on Aunaka to run LFR, I do farming on her, I maybe do a couple of dailies, but past that I don’t do anything on her anymore.

I mean what’s the point when Aunakai get all the way to 90 I’m going to have to start it on her, so I mind as well just wait…right?

I just have to tell myself whenever I start feeling guilty that A. This is a game, and Aunaka is in fact not real; B. I’m having more fun on my monk, and C. I named her Aunakai so I don’t actually have to change anything to do with blogging. Winking smile

Thanks everyone for reading and I’ll catch you next time!

/Cheers!

I actually really like doubling up on druid healers. I mean, only in the case that it’s a 3 healer team (for 10m) – having just 2 healers, both druids does gimp you a bit with single target burst capability.

For me, I’ve never run with another healer who has synergised with my HoTs as well as a druid. Granted it’s not every druid – they need to be aware of your HoTs and make good choices about their own. But it’s just so easy to develop synergy when you are casting the same thing, as opposed to a priest or paladin who doesn’t look at a rejuv ticking on a target the same way. That rejuv that will top a target over time usually gets a hand from some direct heal, rendering the rest of its duration as overheals.
