While I know that this Blog is supposed to be WoW based I’m venturing outside of our Azerothian world to bring you some reviews of games other than WoW.
Since I think it’s safe to say we are in our lull before the new expansion some of us are turning our eye to other games. If you’re one of those people may I show you some games I find extremely worthwhile to play.
The Emperor Hate A Coward
Anyone that follows my twitter feed has seen more than once on Tuesdays tweets concerning the Emperor or Deathwatch, and that’s because I get together with some lovely people including, Raineva, from Minions of Raineva, and Kandosii, that’d be the husband, to play the pen and paper game of Warhammer 40K Deathwatch.
Where you play a Space Marine, a genetically altered super solider that is clad in power armor and are sent out on missions to defend the Imperium against the Aliens, Mutant, and Heretics that work to kill humanity.
That would be a Black Templar Space Marine. If you want to Role-play something that makes you feel like an unstoppable God of death and destruction I recommend this game.
As a note for any ladies that are looking to play, there are no female Space Marines so you’d be gender-bending. It’s worth it.
All Aboard!
For those that are less inclined to the chopping demons of the warp to bits, I have to recommend a board game that is so amazing I downloaded the IPhone version and I play none stop.
Ticket to Ride is a cross-country train adventure in which players collect and play matching train cards to claim railway routes connecting cities throughout North America.
The longer the routes, the more points they earn.
Additional points come to those who can fulfill their Destination Tickets by connecting two distant cities, and to the player who builds the longest continuous railway.
The object of the game is to score the highest number of total points. Points can be scored by:
Claiming a Route between two cities on the map;
Successfully completing a Continuous Path of routes between two cities listed on your Destination Ticket(s);
Or by completing the Longest Continuous Path of routes.
Points are lost if you do not successfully complete the route given on your Destination Ticket(s).
Yes I copied and pasted that from the Days of Wonder website, I’d had my description typed out and realized it wasn’t as clear.
In writing this game doesn’t seem like to much fun I understand but if you don’t feel like taking my word on it here’s Wil Wheaton playing with Colin Ferguson, and his Wife playing the game. The video is hilarious!
There Be Dragons Here
Last but not least I have to tell you all about my recent IPhone game obsession Dragonvale. It is very similar to any “zoo building” game except for the same thing of you breed DRAGONS! There are tons of different dragons too and depending on the breeding combinations is what you’ll get.
There are also special dragons that become available when real life events happen, like right now you can get a Year of the Dragon, Panglong Dragon.
Or an Olympian Dragon. There are a gold, silver, and bronze version of these, so far I only have the gold and silver.
It’s a silly little game but oh so addictive, please let me know if you play I’ll send you gems. ![]()
I hope that you all try out the games, and let me know how you like them, if you have suggestions for me I al ALWAYS up for a new game!
