Elevator Bosses and Durping Around

I’ve written posts about people, and by people I mean Mages, standing in stuff. I touted about the exasperating length at which certain people will whine and cry about the raid/guild/group not doing what they want, when they want, how they want, but I’ve never touched upon my pet peeve as a "serious" raider.

I suppose I should first define what I mean by "serious" raider.

I play WoW to raid, I’m not a huge leveler nor am I an altaholic though I do LOVE lore, I play for the end game content and the sense of community I get when my guild accomplishes a feat of strength.

I show up to raid on time, I bring flasks and pots, I have my own food if need be, my gear is fully gemmed and enchanted.

Elevator Bosses and Mountain Climbing

So as a "serious" raider I get very irritated, very quickly when people screw around in raid and don’t listen.

I will use both the elevator in BWD and the mountains in Firelands as examples.

There is a group of guys whos names I shall not bother tarnishing that night after night would either die to the elevator boss (fall to their doom), or they would try to climb the mountains by Alysrazor, which you technically can, and then get stuck and we have to have them log, or we need to figure out a way to pull them down or summon them down.

Either way it’s a pain. It interferes with the game, and after the first couple of times is REALLY not funny anymore.

Use Your Ears Not Your Mouth

When the raid leader starts to explain the raid that is your cue to shut up and listen. In my experience you will have a chance to pitch in ideas/suggestions, or make comments after everything is said.

Seriously LISTEN!

As a healer I REALLY only need to listen to notes directly about me and about positioning. I don’t REALLY need to know what the tank or DPS are doing, but you know what I still listen to the whole thing, and I promise you it makes me a better, more raid aware healer.

Be More Than You Can Be

I am a healer my only job is to heal people right? Correct, ahhh alot of you thought I was going to say wrong.

Your ONLY job as a healer is to heal. Until you can do that to the best of your ability don’t try to do anything else.

Sure I could spout off a few wraths on Spine of Deathwing to help the tendion along, but instead I’ll do some mana regen, while keeping Lifebloom up and running.

I do not DPS. It is selfish. I am ok with it. People in my raid group do not die.*

Those are the three big ones I have, I’ve tried to be better about not letting them bother me, and I generally just let it roll off my shoulders, especially if we’re just doing a fun run, but I also ask people to better themselves and be considerate of others.

/Cheers

*Ok that’s not entirely true, but for the dramatization of the statement I’ll allow it.

Excellent post and I couldn’t agree more. I hate feeling like my time is being wasted. That may sound snarky, but I’m a mom a full time student and I am trying to keep a priority on fitness. I love playing wow, but if folks can’t focus during raid it annoys me so much!
