This is it, last day of Cataclysm. Midnight Tuesday, PST, most of us will dive into the new expansion and our time in Cata will soon become a faded memory, so in honor of today I’m giving the blog fully over to a stroll down memory lane.

Cataclysm has not been kind to a lot of us, and to be fair we haven’t been kind to it, but honestly it’s one of my least favorite expansion, it did something’s right, but it did A LOT of things wrong. Allow me to express some of my frustrations with initial leveling.
If you leveled Hyjal you will understand the pain behind these pictures. Though the top one doesn’t quite show the sheer number of elementals that were there, and even then there weren’t enough for the amount of people that swarmed.
F*CK THIS SHIP! And it’s buggy as hell starting quests and those God forsaken Naga!
Deepholm, the bane of my very existence. Wanna walk two feet without being attacked by mobs? TOO BAD!
Deepholm, land of the mechanical worms that will EAT YOU! I can’t tell you how many times I was eaten by these worms in the quest chain that takes you into the tunnels.
Up yours tunnel…up yours.
I liked Firelands, as a matter of fact it was one of the only raids in this expansion that I REALLY enjoyed, but gudamn did I grow to HATE seeing this portal through wipe, after wipe, after grueling wipe.
Unbelievable Beauty
Now that I have that out of my system I have to say that this expansion is probably one of the prettiest. The zone design was amazing, and sometimes the art took my breath away.
Here’s to Everyone
Beyond the frustration, and beyond the beauty this expansion has seen me grow as a person. I‘ve met some of the most amazing people through this game, and have grown close to many more I already knew. It saw a marriage, a guild split, and a reuniting, it saw friends coming together for raiding, and downtime fun. I’ll always remember it in a happier light because of these things.

I have to give a very special shout out to Unity as a whole, you are an amazing guild! Wolfeson, LTsmash, Team AunaBra, Bouncy Bra, Raineva, Raingear, Fel, Vio, Dora, Uthanc, Kandosii, Vag, Vrong, and man I have way to many to say hi to thank you EVERYONE who made this expansion what it was!

Urg, some of those pics at the top… I have to agree with you. I was so excited about having a whole water zone but then after a couple of days I was over it… I went back much later to finish it off for the achievement.

Ya, the zones themselves were visually awesome (that makes 2 xpacs in a row there, good trend). There just wasn’t as much beyond that initial “wow, pretty” as there could have been. On the plus side, though, they seem to have learned that lesson, and we’ll be able to start accessing some of that new stuff right…about…now.
