We may feel like your are invincible to the mechanics of our past, but allow me to demonstrate in pictures and stories how our baddassery still isn’t good enough, or how it will be the death of us. Our adventure begins with a King.
Defile
Yup, it doesn’t matter what level you are this can still 100% kill your ass if you don’t move out of it, or most often if your stupid Mage doesn’t move out of it. Don’t give me that look Mages you know it’s true. It’s the dirty, worst kept secret of your class. The only reason I say it isn’t a rogue is cause they’re up with the boss.
Portals…STOP DPS!
Remember Kalegos? Big Dragon, Blue, makes portals. Yeah that guy. He kills you with time, you have to try to kill yourself to restart this fight. So if you DPS Kalegos too fast you’ll end up glitching the fight and the only way out of it is to kill yourself.
You Are Too Few
Sticking with Sunwell Plateau, we come upon Felmyst, I have horrible, eye scarring memories of this fight. “Run to the left, no run to the right, oh god we’re DEAD!” Granted we are higher level and less likely to die to the fire, however the Mind Control can still very much kill us. So yes Mr. Felmyst is still very much a pain in the ass.
Ozruk SMASH!
It is almost impossible to out gear the combo of Paralyze and Shatter. Granted this fight mechanic is fairly easy, unless of course you are a Mage…I KID! Good ole Ozruk can still kill us, and fairly easily at that.
You Are Not Prepared
I’m sure there are countless more mechanics that can kill us, but that would be too long of a post, and it’ll allow me to do a Mechanics That Can Kill Us Part 2. If you have suggests of old content that still kills please leave a comment I love hearing about it.

I have experienced ALL of these ahaha! Aaaaand they’re fun. I love wiping on bosses that we technically should be able to breeze through. (I know … I love wiping … it’s sad.)
I hadn’t ever thought about it before but … Defile gets our mage. Every time. :O

For those of you not in my guild, I’m somewhat well-known for knowing the gender of every dragon in the game, and being a bit anal when people constantly get it wrong.
Indeed it was a personal troll for you!
SO TRUE with Defile, although Shadow Trap has to get an honorable mention. Every time I do H-LK and see half the melee not move even though I’m screaming at them on vent, I experience this odd combination of head-smashing aggravation and utter hilarity.
Actually a good mage will blink out of the defile and leave less of a puddle than almost any other class !
And in our guild we had a running joke about the ability being called “Fucking Defile” instead of just Defile, hah.
Vuuk the key word in your comment is “good”. Yes a good mage will, I let you know when I run across a mage like that.
